China: An infamous place in history: The first plane hijacking, happened on June 15th, 1948 when a gang of Chinese bandits hijacked the Cathay Pacific Airways’ Catalina flying boat “Miss Macao” on a scheduled flight to Hong Kong. The captain, experiencing the first hijacking of an aircraft ever, refused to take their orders. There was gunfire and the plane crashed, killing all but the bandit leader. |
